Went to the Jurong Bird Park today! Woot. Havent been there in ages and ages and ages. Really loved visiting this place when i was young, and yes, nostalgic cos my parents used to bring me around all these places! 好幸福喔! Decided to visit the Bird Park is also not some random idea of mine. Jus that i bought the park-hoppers package which includes a visit to the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and of course the Jurong Bird Park for a price of $45! Value for money. =)
Was greeted by the nice entrance of the park and right smack before the entry way, was a pond full of birds! Haha. A couple of DUCKS (note: Yvonne) were swimming around and poking their head into the water. A couple of other birds were around too, of which i do not know what they are. (That explains why most pics below have no captions, cos i duno the names!)
The attractions in the park are still pretty standard for the past so many years. Just that most of the structures have either been reinforced or rebuilt. There are a couple of new attractions of which i'll talk more later. First few attractions upon entering the park were like the parrots, flamingos, and penguins.
Went for the 10am bird of prey show, Fuji World of Hawks. Honestly, i felt that the show was rather disappointing and not entertaining enough, and if im not wrong, its been the same show for the past donkey years too! The show presenters were giving off-colour jokes and apparent time-dragging, which should be cut down. Nonetheless, the birds featured in the performance were beautiful and their hunting abilities and such, truly amazing!
After the show, i carried on the route and i saw my arch enemy!! THE PELICAN!! Haha. No, i'm not afraid of it, or that i hate it, its just that, a pelican allegedly bit me on the neck when i was a little kid at the zoo! It was sitting on a rock, n i jus went close n it jus went snap! No worries, no blood or anything, i probably jus looked like a big fish. Haha. Wouldnt say much about the other attractions around, cos you can easily find more info at the bird park website.
The waterfall was just as breathtaking as ever. It is one of the few things that i actually remember of the bird park, cos its something u dont see in everyday life, although it is a man-made structure. climbed up the small hill and took a few pics of colourful, pretty birds, when a keeper was feeding them mealworms and crickets.
Just wanna quickly touch on this attraction before i end this post off with the pictures for you to enjoy. Was nearing the end of the whole park route, and i went to this attraction called The Lory Loft. Lories are actually small colourful parrots and they had that whole sanctuary to themselves. For $2, you get a small bowl of nectar, honey and water and u feed the birds! The little parrots actually fly to your hand and feed on the stuff! how cool is that? haha. I was so happy that i bought another bowl of it. Some of them are really naughty, and some simply bossy. Some would fly and perch on ur arm or shoulder and try to get some of the food, and some would try nibbling at your fingers. Each bird certainly has their own personality. COOL!
Jurong Bird Park is certainly a nice alternative to visit other than the Singapore Zoo. Its a great place for bird enthusiasts armed with their high speed cameras too cos birds are constantly moving and so difficult to capture sharp and crisp images with a normal compact. Alright! Take some time, look at the pics! =)
